Remarks:

Roussel de la Bérardière was the king's advocate at Caen and a member of the town's Academy. Appointed by the king a professor in law at the University in 1762, he taught French law with reference to that of Normandy. Montesquieu influenced him. The book covers, respectively, the laws of persons, things ('choses'), and the means of acquiring the same, frequently with reference to Roman law. After the closure of the law department at Caen University in 1790 Roussel de la Bérardière said to have died in poverty. Edition(s) (this copy in bold): 1782 Provenance of this copy: Adv. GSK Dawes
