Remarks:

This work, in the present edition revised by an anonymous hand, is a dictionary of pre-Revolutionary French law, and as such still of value in interpreting, and comparing, customary law systems including those of the Channel Islands, in the courts of which it is sometimes cited, on occasion with the Dictionnaire of David Hoüard, which often complements it as regards the law and practice of Normandy. Edition(s) (this copy in bold): Claude de Ferrière (1639-1715) published an Introduction de Pratique in 1684, its edition of 1734, revised by his son, taking on the title of Dictionnaire De Droit et de Pratique. It later appeared in editions of 1740, 1749, 1758, 1762, 1755 1769, and 1771. Provenance of this copy: St John Robilliard Collection
