Privy Council Committee evidence (1946)
Author(s): J.B. Howard (Secretary)
Title: Evidence given before the Privy Council Committee on Proposed Reforms in the Channel Islands: Jersey, September 1946
Remarks:
This evidence, which should be read alongside the Report of the Committee of the Privy Council on proposed reforms in the Channel Islands (Cmd 7074) (Privy Council, 1947), gave rise to the that report, resulting in fundamental legislation, namely The States of Jersey Law 1948 and The Royal Court (Jersey) Law 1948. It is notable, historically, that the Committee was chaired by no less a figure than the British Home Secretary, the Rt Hon. James Chuter Ede, M.P. (1882-1965).
