Tieullier, Coustumier de Dieppe (1884)
Author(s): Guillaume Tieullier (late 14C) Emmanuel Coppinger (ed.)
Title: Le Coustumier de la Vicomté de Dieppe
Remarks:
Guillaume Tieullier was a priest at St Jacques in Dieppe and Receiver there for the Archbishop of Rouen. It was in connection with that role that the author set down the customs, aiming to crystallise the same. The edition includes acts from thirteenth-century court records. The citizenry of Dieppe endorsed the text. An interesting comparison might be made with the work of Guillaume Terrien (q.v.) one time lieutenant général du bailli de Dieppe. Little seems to be known about Emmanuel Coppinger, the editor, other than that he was an archivist. Edition(s) (this copy in bold): 1884 Provenance of this copy: Adv. GSK DawesFurther reading:
