De Merville, Coutume de Normandie (1707)
Author(s): Pierre Biarnoy de Merville (d. 1740)
Title: La Coutume de Normandie reduite en maximes selon le sens litteral, et l'esprit de chaque article.
Remarks:
De Merville was an advocate at the parlements of both Normandy and Paris, and author of numerous works, including Décisions sur chaque article de la Coutume de Normandie (1731), a commentary on the Coutume de Chartres (1714), and others on the seventeenth-century Ordonnances Royales. A copy of the volume noticed here that is in the Library of the Royal Court, Guernsey, has a note, said to be on the authority of Louis Froland (1656-1746), that the work was in fact that of one Maître Audiger, advocate at Rouen, and that de Merville merely published his manuscript. Edition(s) (this copy in bold): 1707 Provenance of this copy: Adv. G.S.K. DawesFurther reading:
